Ankara - Istanbul - Riga - Tallinn

On 28.01.2010 I set out for my ultimate adventure to do Erasmus in Tallinn. I always wanted to do Erasmus during my B.A years, yet some relationship issues kept me from going. Then I realized I was to live my life for myself and myself only. So here I was going to Estonia after many weeks of goodbye parties in Ankara with all my friends. A few days before my departure Ankara welcomed snow for the first time this year, and funny thing, the day I was leaving, it was snowing in huge amounts. So much that me, my mother and cousin (we live together) had to leave at 7.45 am to catch the plane at 10.00 am. However, as usual, we left home at 8.15 and had to take the shortest road possible. We forgot ofcourse that we had a great(!) mayor and he probably forgot to order people to clear the roads from snow. Too much snow, too much traffic, too many accidents... we miraculously made it in 1 hour to the airport and checked-in on time. But the wonderful Turkish Airlines had another surprise for me... My flight was delayed due to snow on the ground. I was to see my sister -who was leaving for good to London- at the İstanbul Atatürk Airport till my plane to Riga at 3.05pm, but as you can all guess, it was only for 30 minutes during my rush between baggage claim -> check-in desk closed??!! oh no!! ticket sales run!-> what luggage overweight? ok we will pay!! -> wow 300 euros thats more than my ticket! -> passport control -> finding the gate (wrong gate!!) ->finding the right gate.. finally reaching the plane and suddenly realizing my sister's credit card in my hand! I always have these adventures on journeys, funny that I am still not used to such surprises. On my plane to Riga, the sun started to set. Ohhh such a beautiful sight!! the colours suddenly started to change after the first 20 minutes, it was snowy in Istanbul, when we went above the clouds, eveything was so still and quiet that I was sure that it was a different planet. The sky was an orange- yellow colour and soon started to become a red-orange, then some blue, and purple too!! almost every colour was in the sky and the sunset lasted for like an hour or so, maybe more... the clouds soon ended and below was the beautiful dark blue -greyish frost and the sun beams lit up the rivers silver!! they were actually shining!! this wonderful picture was like a promise that everything would be great over here. I hope that everyone gets to see a sunset like this just for once in their lives... When I arrived to Tallinn my sweet tutors were waiting for me with a paper in their hands saying "Seda Sen, welcome to Tallinn, Rait and Tuuli." :) They took me and another Turkish girl to our houses where I met one of my flatmates for the first time after speaking for months on facebook and msn :) Days will show how my other flatmates are.. My room has a crack on the window, a really big one, but hopefully I will find a solution for that. thats it for now i guess :)
